Where is Tjuntjuntjara?
Tjuntjuntjara is a remote and isolated community located in the southern part of the Great Victoria Desert, just north of the Nullarbor Plain The nearest regional center is Kalgoorlie 680km to the South West. Tjunjuntjara is in the local government area of the Shire Of Menzies. The Regional area is referred to as the Goldfields region of Western Australia. Tjuntjuntjara.
Who lives at Tjuntjuntjara?
The Aboriginal people who live at Tjuntjuntjara refer to themselves as Anangu, their first language is Pitjantjatjara. There are also non indigenous staff employed by the Paupiyala Tjarutja Aboriginal Corporation (PTAC) and the Remote Community School.
Who can visit Tjuntjuntjara?

Tjuntjuntjara is in Spinifex Native Title area, therefore visitors need a permit to enter. There is an exemption for people who visit to work here as employees or a contractors

How do I get to Tjuntjuntjara?

There are Chart Air scheduled flights in and out of the community every Wednesday back to Kalgoorlie. The community also has a regular mail plane that departs Kalgoorlie on a Friday to Alice Springs. There is a relatively good dirt road from Kalgoorlie and Ceduna, theses trips take between 8 and 10 hours.

If your a new visitor you will need a permit to enter the Spinifex Native Title area from the PTAC office. Ask for the Visitor Orientation Manual as well as that will help prepare you for the journey.

What is Tjuntjuntjara like?
Tjuntjuntjara is located in an area between the plains of the great Nullabor to the south and the sand dune country to the North. The land surrounding Tjuntjuntjara are pristine, in fact Tjuntjuntjara is located in a nature reserve, with plenty of wild life, bird's and wild flowers. The Anangu are a gentle and peaceful people, as such the community is very safe. It is a small community and there few but good quality amenities - a store, women's centre, youth facility 'Rage Cage', community resource centre plus plenty of space!
Autumn, Winter and Spring are very mild with Summer temperatures often in the high 40's degrees Celsius.
